France 1994

On May 1994, Shabab Oman sailed from Said Bin Sultan Naval Base to France to mark the 500th anniversary celebrations of the D-Day landings during the Second World War. The voyage took 18 weeks with around 40 ships from 18 countries taking part in the event. During her stay in Rouen, an exhibition was organized featuring a number of Omani handicrafts and handmade items reflecting Omani heritage and the magnificent geographical features of the Sultanate. She arrived to Her final destination Said bin Sultan Naval Base where She arrived on 28th September covering more than 13000 nautical miles and visiting 13 ports of friendly countries.
