Australia trip 1987
On 17th October 1987, Shabab Oman set sailed from Muscat to Australia to participate in the country’s bicentenary anniversary celebrations to mark the occasion of the arrival of the First European settlers’ Fleet in the New Continent in 1788. During this voyage, which lasted three months, Shabab Oman visited eleven ports in five countries. She also participated in a large race and display on 26th January. She finished fifth among one hundred ships and was the only Arabian ship to participate in this event. She returned to Port Sultan Qaboos on 9th April 1988, having covered over 17000 nautical miles.
