USA trip 1986

On the 22nd March 1986, Shabab Oman sailed to the United States of America to participate in the US naval review which was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in New York. She also commemorated the visit of Captain Ahmed bin Al Na’aman, the Sultan’s emissary, who sailed to America on board Al Sultanah in 1840 to spread Oman’s message of peace. He was the first Arab diplomat to be sent to the US. Prior to sailing from the Port of Salalah, the ship was honored by the Royal visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos –may Allah Almighty have mercy on his soul. During this voyage, the Ship visited a number of ports and islands.
