Shabab Oman sailed to America in late April 1992 to participate in the celebrations marking the 500th Anniversary of Columbus’s voyage to the American continent. On Her way, She took part in the Tall Ship Race from Cadiz to Saint John organized by the Tall Ships Association in addition to Her participation in a naval show held in New York to mark US Independence Day. On October 1992, She finally returned home to Said bin Sultan Naval Base, having covered 16466 nautical miles and received 40000 visitors.
