North Sea 2001
In the morning of 5th may 2001, Shabab Oman sailed from Said bin Sultan Naval Base on Her way to the North Sea, Europe, to take part in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships’ Race 2001 which started from the Port of Antwerp in Belgium. There, She was received by Prince Armadeo of Belgium. After that, Shabab Oman set sail for Esbjerg Port in Denmark, the last phase of the race, where she won the prestigious Cutty Sak Trophy for International Friendship for the third time. Following this, Shabab Oman proceeded to Dundee, to take part in the centenary celebrations of the Royal Research Ship RN Discovery. Then, She went to Portsmouth to participate in the International Festival of the Sea. She eventually arrived at Said bin Sultan Naval Base on 22nd October 2001, after a long journey of five and a half months, which covered more than 15000 nautical miles.
